HWB is happy to announce we have launched a new quarterly magazine, Without Borders. This magazine was created to give more valuable content, news, recipes, updates, and features to our members and community. Our first issue is packed full of recipes, book reviews, plant monographs, webinars, feature articles, and more, at over 70 pages. Without Borders has content for nonmembers and members alike, with links to members-only exclusives. We are also launching calendar listings this summer, and advertising opportunities (as HWB fundraising) this fall.

Article and Photo Criteria
HWB has the right to edit or refuse any submission if they do not meet our space or criteria. Articles shall not give legal advice or use language that is not legal in the US where HWB is based (ie: diagnose, treat, or cure verbiage in articles). Please be aware of anti-oppressive work, cultural appropriation, and white saviorism. We will not publish articles where someone is encouraging the use or is harvesting of plants sacred to a group that they are not a part of, for example. We love photos, especially of HWB groups working in their communities. Please be sure you have permission to share your photos if they include anyone besides you. Thank you. Please be mindful of showing the faces of at-risk folks such as undocumented folks, victims of domestic violence, etc. If you can give ideas for substitutions on ingredients in recipes, that is great as folks in other countries might not be able to access, for example, fractionated coconut oil.
All article contributors receive a byline and a photo/bio in the contributor pages. Please see the sample below. Include a photo of yourself, your name, a brief bio, and any links you wish to include in your byline with your article submission. We prefer to accept google doc articles, which work better than word docs or other proprietary applications that might not be universal. Photos should be RGB and saved as png or jpg. Be sure to note where you are on the planet, as our members are global. We reserve the right to edit your bio for space.
All photos should be photos you have taken. We do not accept outside stock photography due to copyright laws. We will utilize our own stock images if you do not have any. All photo credits should be included in your submission, for example: Photo by Jo Hawking, 2023.
Article submissions should have a title, photos, your name/links/byline/bio and headshot, and a word count. Send submissions to editor@hwbglobal.org.
